Police Supervisor Liability: Attorney Jennifer Hulvat

Jennifer Hulvat has been a practicing attorney in both Illinois and Florida for over 27years. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Illinois in Champaign and subsequently attended the DePaul College of Law, receiving her J.D. in 1990. After receiving an offer from then State Attorney Janet Reno to become a prosecutor in Miami, Florida, she spent 6 years prosecuting primarily felony matters there, including several years in the Career Criminal/Robbery Unit.  In 1996, she returned to Chicago and resumed her prosecutorial career in DuPage County, prosecuting felony cases until 2011, at which time she created the Hulvat Law Firm, focusing on serving criminal defense clients and providing police training throughout Northern Illinois. She offers her expertise as an instructor for NEMRT in the area of Supervisory Police Liability and regularly consults and presents customized training for law enforcement entities as requested. Since 2004, Jennifer has taught criminal justice and public safety courses for several institutions, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.  She is currently a member of the faculty at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, IL.
